Together with the Incheon International Airport, and the newly designated free economic zones of Incheon Southern Outport (Songdo New Port), Gimpo (Chungra) Landfill, Songdo (informatization) New City, regional centers of foreign companies are expected to be attracted. Incheon is quickly surfacing as the international logistics city together with Busan, the traditional logistics hub.

International logistics and transportation is contributing greatly to enhancing competitiveness in Incheon's regional society and industry. To fit the role of a university that leads improvement of international competitiveness and the nation's path towards strong knowledge based nation, the University of Incheon is looking to change into a "consumer oriented education" that will live up to the demands of students and the society. As a means to change into an "international standard university" and as a part of the differentiation policy to prepare for the opening of the education market, the school was designated by the Ministry of Education for specializing in logistics. With the fast changing international logistics environment, the demands of corporations in this field will increase dramatically, so logistics major programs were created. With the globalization speeding up, the social environment calls for more importance to be put on logistics issues, but the interests and experts on logistics field is still lacking. The logistics major looks to provide basic logistic knowledge and foster logistics experts that can conduct in depth analysis of logistics problems, as well as solving problems on the field. This is to say that in the 21st century, in which Korea and the Incheon region is quickly surfacing as the hub of international logistics in Northeast Asia, we aim to foster the best experts that combine theory and practices of logistics, as well as foreign language skills of English and Chinese, and IT.
